Tennessee Jones

Tennessee (he/him) is a psychotherapist, writer, and Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW). He believes everyone holds the innate capacity to heal, and views therapy as a way of counteracting the influence of harmful systems of oppression that can stand in the way of self-acceptance, embodiment, and connecting with others.

He works with people experiencing a variety of challenges to connection and wellbeing, including anxiety, self-worth, interpersonal relationships, trauma (CPTSD, intergenerational, religious, and identity-related), and integrating difficult emotions. Tennessee has experience working with neurodivergence, poly/CNM, LGBTQ2IA+ experience, and specializes in working with LGBTQ2IA+ adults and adolescents. He is passionate about working with artists and writers, as well as people interested in exploring spirituality as a healing resource.

Tennessee is certified in ketamine-assisted therapy, and often uses Internal Family Systems (IFS) in conjunction with trauma-informed anti-oppressive psychodynamic work. His approach is curious, collaborative, and playful, with the intention of creating a non-judgmental space that encourages experimentation and discovery.

Tennessee received his Master of Social Work from the Silberman School of Social Work, and has a Master of Divinity from Union Theological Seminary and a Master of Fine Arts in Fiction from Hunter College.
