Nikola Pavelić, Therapy Trainee
Nikola (he.him) believes that therapy is an act of self-care and a space to slow down, understand what is happening within and why, and imagine what might be possible next.
Nikola is a social work clinician-in-training in his final year at Columbia University School of Social Work. He support adults navigating identity, relationships, anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, stress, and major life transitions. Nikola has a particular interests in working with first-generation adults, refugee and immigrant adults who came to the United States as children, LGBTQIA+ adults, and professionals in social service and social impact fields.
Nikola's approach is reflective, intersectional, holistic, collaborative, and honest. With Nikola you can explore the stories and experiences that have shaped your life, honor what needs redirection, and create ways for new possibilities. He is trained in Motivational Interviewing and brings curiosity, honesty, and compassion to the therapeutic process.
As a cisgender gay white male refugee with Balkan roots and a spiritual orientation, Nikola understands that identity can be layered, complicated, and continually evolving. Nikola strives to create a warm, inclusive, and nonjudgmental space where you can show up as you are without needing to have everything figured out.
