About Tennessee

Tennessee (he/him) is a psychotherapist, writer, and Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW). He believes everyone holds the innate capacity to heal, and views therapy as a way of counteracting the influence of harmful systems of oppression that can stand in the way of self-acceptance, embodiment, and connecting with others.

He works with people experiencing a variety of challenges to connection and wellbeing, including anxiety, self-worth, interpersonal relationships, trauma (CPTSD, intergenerational, religious, and identity-related), and integrating difficult emotions. Tennessee has experience working with neurodivergence, poly/CNM, gender and sexuality, and specializes in working with queer and TGNC adults and adolescents. He is passionate about working with artists and writers, as well as people interested in exploring spirituality as a healing resource.

Tennessee is certified in ketamine-assisted therapy, and often uses Internal Family Systems (IFS) in conjunction with trauma-informed anti-oppressive psychodynamic work. His approach is curious, collaborative, and playful, with the intention of creating a non-judgmental space that encourages experimentation and discovery.

Tennessee received his Master of Social Work from the Silberman School of Social Work, and has a Master of Divinity from Union Theological Seminary and a Master of Fine Arts in Fiction from Hunter College.
